Well, it shows you only people who are really nearby and you can talk to in person; you might find it useful in a pub, concert, business conference or wherever you are enclosed by interesting people you want to know better; and it doesn’t use GPS but sophisticated wi-fi triangulation so it works better while respecting your privacy and last but not least you don't need any wi-fi password.
